Our office is located in Memphis, where we are dedicated to fostering literacy through tutoring, family reading nights, and volunteer training.
How to Get the Most From Your Message
A little detail in your first email helps us point you to the right person and reply with useful information sooner. Whether you are a parent, a teacher, a would-be tutor or a local organisation looking to partner, here is what helps us respond well.
For families seeking reading support
Tell us your child's age or grade, the part of Memphis you live in, and what you have noticed. Maybe reading feels like a struggle at homework time, or your child has lost interest in books. You do not need a diagnosis or school paperwork to reach out. If your child already has a plan at school, mention it so we can understand how tutoring might complement it. You can also browse our programs beforehand to see which format sounds like a good fit.
For prospective volunteers
Let us know roughly how much time you can give, whether you prefer weekdays, evenings or weekends, and whether you have worked with children or adult learners before. Experience is welcome but not required, because training is part of how we prepare tutors. The volunteer page explains what the role usually involves.
For schools, libraries and community groups
If you would like to host a family reading night or explore a partnership, describe your space, the community you serve and the kind of event you have in mind. Sharing your preferred timeframe early makes planning much easier, since events often need several weeks of preparation.
A few practical notes
- Please do not include sensitive personal details, such as medical records or school ID numbers, in a first email.
- If your question is about a specific event, include its name and date so we can find it quickly.
- Many common questions about reading at home are answered in our resources, which you are welcome to use while you wait for a reply.
We read every message and aim to answer each one thoughtfully. Thank you for helping more Memphis readers find their footing.
