&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;PRESENTERS:&lt;/b&gt; Ric Potts, Memphis City Schools, J. Helen Perkins, University of Memphis, Elizabeth Heeren, Memphis City Schools, Rorie Harris, Memphis City Schools, and Jill Feldman, Research for Better Schools&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;SUMMARY:&lt;/b&gt; Studies of the school-level and targeted interventions provided the backdrop for discussion of two broad themes. Discussion of the school-wide intervention established the importance of using research-based&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;b&gt;OCCASION:&lt;/b&gt;  American Educational Research Association 2008 Annual Meeting&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;DATE:&lt;/b&gt; Thursday, March 27, 2008&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;TITLE OF PRESENTATION:&lt;/b&gt;  Building and Sustaining University-Community Research Partnerships in an Urban Context:  A Literacy Academy Trilogy&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;SUMMARY:&lt;/b&gt; This panel explored the evolution of successful models for creating and sustaining university-community partnerships in urban settings. These initiatives employed a capacity-building model for improving teacher effectiveness in urban schools and have seen significant results. Evidence of the model’s efficacy was provided, and the ecological factors that sustained these projects addressed.&lt;/p&gt;
